Why should I approach @dvice i20 ?
A. We at @dvicei20 do our best to help you in every crucial step from applying to the universities until you land in USA. We would like to make the path to USA as simple as possible.
Will I be charged for my profile evaluation and application process ?
A. Yes. We charge a nominal fee of Rs. 300 for evaluating your profile (YOUR PROFILE CAN BE FILLED IN ONLINE). We will review your profile and reply you by mail and fix an appointment to meet us in person and that is when we charge you. The money we charge is for all the @dvice from getting admissions till your flight tickets. You may get some discounts if you go through us. That’s a smart move;). So, by the end of the day you save more money than the charge for your evaluation and application process.
What is GRE ?
A. GRE stands for Graduate Record Examination. It tests your quantitative and analytical skills. For more information refer GRE/TOEFL page(link).
What is TOEFL ?
A. TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. It tests your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. For more information refer GRE/TOEFL page(link).
Is GMAT or GRE compulsory for admission ?
A. GRE is compulsory for students to pursue an MS degree. Some schools accept students without a GMAT score. TOEFL is compulsory for all students wishing to pursue an education in U.S.
However, please keep in mind that it is very tough to get a visa without GMAT/GRE scores. You can get an admission in some schools without test scores. However, you may not get a visa.
Besides, a GRE/GMAT score increases the choice of universities that you can apply to as only few universities accept students without a GRE or GMAT score. GRE score is also helpful in securing an assistantship or scholarship. The higher the score more are the chances of getting scholarship.
I have a low TOEFL score. Is it a problem ?
A. Yes, you can get an admission in some programs. However, you will face problems in the visa process because the chances of rejection go up. It’s recommended that if you score less than 70, you take TOEFL again. You can get admission in some universities with a conditional i-20 where you have to take up ESL course in the first semester.
I have an IELTS score. Can I apply to US universities ?
A. Yes. There are few universities which accept IELTS score. Anyways you should be careful in the visa interview.
I have a 3 years Bachelors degree. Can I get an admission ?
A. You can get an admission into several programs such as business related courses like MBA and MS in Information Systems Management. Only few universities offer this kind of admission.
Do you have to be a Computer Science undergraduate to apply for MSCS ?
A. No, it is not required that a student has majored in CS but it is important that you have strong quantitative and analytical skills.
What is a pre-requisite ?
A. A pre-requisite is an under grad deficiency course in the major you choose. Its normally given when a student switches his major say for example from CS to EE.
Can I reapply to MS or Ph.D. program ?
A. Yes, however you cannot apply more than once for the same academic year.
I received my I-20, but I was turned down for my visa! Can I use this same I-20 to apply again for a visa next semester ?
A. Students must have an up-to-date I-20 for their visa applications. If your visa application is denied, simply return the I-20 to the university and defer your admission to the next semester for a new attempt.
